autoX Awards 2023: The Invicto is the most expensive Maruti ever, period. So, naturally, there have to be high expectations from it. Given that the Invicto is a people-carrier, let’s begin with how comfortable and practical it is. To give you an idea, this Maruti MPV became our go-to choice for transporting our crew at the test site. From shuttling supplies to photographers scattered all over the track to bringing them back to the base camp – the Invicto effortlessly did everything and more.
Now, given that it’s a petrol model, one would naturally assume it’s not likely to be pocket-friendly, but contrary to the assumption, the Invicto proved to be quite economical. Drive it without a care in the world, and its strong hybrid powertrain will effortlessly return a real-world fuel efficiency of 14 – 16 km/l. That’s pretty impressive, to be honest. What’s even more impressive, however, is the fact that my colleague Karan managed to push this figure to almost 26 km/l in mixed driving conditions. As they say, ‘Where there is a will, there is a way.’
Now, usually, people hesitate to get into the last row of an MPV, but not with the Invicto. The last row of this MPV is comfortable enough that our crew had no qualms in getting into it every time they needed to be shuttled. And with the last row folded, the boot was big enough to comfortably accommodate all our shooting equipment.

As for the lap time, the Invicto remained in the lower half of the timing table, something that wasn’t unexpected. It’s a big, heavy car and has some difficulty in changing directions at the drop of a hat. Nonetheless, the Maruti Suzuki Invicto admirably maintain its composure on Indian roads, and for a people carrier, that is all that matters.
