Royal Enfield Explorer V4 Pro Jacket Review: Best Adventure Touring Riding Jacket In India?
A company who understands the art of adventure, also understands its needs. The Royal Enfield Explorer V4 Pro riding jacket is a result of that knowledge. So, can this be the only jacket you'll ever need for all your two-wheeled escapades?
As the motorcycle market and awareness around its safety grows, so do the needs of the consumers. A lot of consumers who wish to buy a riding jacket, also wish to purchase a product that is not just durable and robust, but also multi-purpose. Meet Royal Enfield's new adventure riding jacket, the Explorer V4 Pro.
So, what is it? It is a summer-ready, super-ventilated mesh jacket constructed from 600D polyester Cordura fabric for high abrasion resistance. We've been using this jacket for almost two months and were able to sample it in sweltering heat, unbearable humidity and relentless rainfall, too. We chose the V4 Pro in a neon green finish, which provides adequate protection from night riding but doesn't look too loud for normal use. Another point which stood out is the soft neoprene finish inside to avoid skin chafing.

For safety, it features D3O level 2 armours at the shoulders and elbows, with RE's CE-certified Ergo Protech back protector. In case required, you can even opt for a level 1 chest protector. We rate it pretty high in terms of comfort as well, with adjustability for the elbows, sleeves, hips and cuffs. You even get a standalone rain jacket which is resistant to up to 8000 mm of rain. For added peace of mind, there is a Tru Dry waterproof inner pocket with a roll top and velcro closure. This really came in handy when I was stuck in torrential rain during an event in Pune.

Overall, I find the Explorer V4 Pro to be a well-made, feature-loaded and comfortable jacket, which is equally at home commuting as it is doing a tour of Ladakh. The price tag of Rs 11,500 might seem a tad steep but it does offer value for money against similar jackets from international brands, without any of the downsides.
