Great India Drive

Ishan embarks on the 5th edition of the Great India Drive to discover some new aspects of India and, of course, to revel in the freedom of road travel. Here’s what he discovers in this edition.

With winter upon us, we head to the Himalayas for the second leg of the Great India Drive in the search for snow. Himalayas; winter; snow – sounds straightforward, doesn’t it? Well, not quite! 

For the 2019 Hyundai Great India Drive, we embark on an epic journey as we drive a Venue from the Statue of Unity in Gujarat to New Delhi, via Madhya Pradesh. On the way, we discover some hidden gems while tackling everything – from spicy cuisine to bad roads.

Disappointed in the first phase of the Great India Drive that he didn’t find snow, Ishan continues his relentless search. But, with uncertain weather conditions and many hurdles in his path, will he hit the elusive jackpot?

As Hyundai kicks off the second edition of the Great India Drive, we take a Tucson across mountains and through high-altitude passes in search of snow. However, amidst a heatwave, it proved tougher than we expected.

Last month we brought you the first part of our Great India Drive, as we drove from the Thiksey monastery in Leh to the Capital. Well, this time we’re crossing the border to the Mountain Kingdom of Bhutan as we head to the magical Tiger’s Nest monastery.
