Hector, Comet, ZS EV and More Boost MG Motor India YoY Retail Sales Growth to 17% in October
MG Motor India has released its sales figures for the month of October. The carmaker registered retail sales of 5,108 units in the previous month.
Many premium automakers have started disclosing their October sales figures as the new month kicks off. In October 2023, MG Motor India recorded retail sales of 5,108 units, which is an increase of 741 units or 17% from the same period last year. According to MG, the company's success was aided by the ongoing festive season. With the aid of enticing client offers and incentives, the automaker was able to attract customers and saw a growth of roughly 2.10% on a month-over-month basis as of September 2023. Concerning the EV market, MG held a steady position, with the electric models accounting for 25% of total sales. Here are some more highlights on the past performances of the firm in terms of sales.

MG September 2023 Sales: Key Highlights
Retail sales figures of MG for September 2023 were 5,003 units, showing a 31% rise over the same month last year. Furthermore, according to the corporation, 25% of its total sales were made up of electric cars. In comparison, the automaker sold 4,185 passenger vehicles in August 2023, which was a year-over-year rise of 19.55%

In August, MG recorded retail sales of 4,185 units. The carmaker saw YoY growth of almost 10%, compared to 3,823 vehicles supplied during the same period last year. However, on an MoM basis, the sales amount dropped in August 2023 by 16.50% from July 2023.
MG Hector, Hector Plus SUVs to Become Expensive in India?
According to several market reports, the MG Hector and Hector Plus SUVs will cost more on the domestic market starting today, November 1. Reports from the industry indicate that the manufacturer intends to increase the price of its two popular SUVs by up to Rs 40,000, though there are currently no official reports. The powertrain of the Hector SUV comprises both petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine generates 250Nm of maximum torque and 141bhp of peak power, while the 2.0-litre diesel engine produces 350Nm of peak torque and 168bhp of maximum power. With turbo-petrol engines exclusively, a CVT transmission is offered, while a six-speed transmission is standard.

On the other hand, a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission powers the Hector Plus. This unit has a maximum power output of 143bhp and a peak torque of 250Nm. Furthermore, a 2.0-litre diesel engine is available. For the Hector diesel, MG continues to only provide a single 6-speed manual transmission.
