JSW MG Motor India Sales Decline by 9% in June, ZS EV Registers Highest-ever Monthly Sales
June saw MG Motor's sales of electric vehicles reach a record high. By the end of the month, the automaker had delivered 4,644 EVs to customers.
JSW MG Motor India reported June retail sales of 4,644 units, down 9% year over year from 5,125 units in the same month last year. That being said, despite the overall decline, the British carmaker's strategic concentration on NEVs (new energy vehicles) seems to be showing positive results. NEV sales contributed considerably to overall sales, and the company's flagship SUV, ZS EV, achieved its highest-ever monthly sales despite the dip. With 1,861 sold, new energy vehicles, or NEVs, account for almost 40% of overall sales, significantly improving the carmaker's sales performance for June 2024. Read on to learn more.

MG ZS EV Posts Best-ever Monthly Numbers
June saw MG Motor's sales of electric vehicles reach a record high. By the end of the month, the automaker had delivered 4,644 EVs to customers. Record sales of MG's flagship electric SUV, the ZS, launched in India in 2019, were the company's most significant milestone in June. Notably, 40% of the carmaker's total sales in India in the said month came from the ZS EV and the Comet EV, the country's most reasonably priced electric vehicle.
The ZS EV has set new monthly sales records in India for the second consecutive month. More than 35% of MG Motor's sales in May came from electric cars, with ZS EV leading the way. Out of the 4,644 cars that MG Motor sold last month, 1,861 units were electric vehicles. It represents slightly more than 40% of MG Motor's total sales for June, implying that for every vehicle the manufacturer delivered to buyers last month, two electric cars were sold.
The Comet EV is another significant driver in MG Motor's rise in EV sales. The price of the Comet starts at Rs 6.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 9.37 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom figures.
