MG Hector, Hector Plus Prices Hiked in India; Check New Prices Here
The sales momentum for the MG Hector and the Hector Plus has increased since the official launch of the all-new models at the 2023 Auto Expo. The cost of these models has, however, increased by up to Rs 61,000 following the latest price hike implemented by the automaker.
MG Motor, the British automaker, has increased the prices of a range of models in its India line-up, which include the Astor, Hector, Hector Plus, and Gloster. The all-new Hector facelift was launched by MG Motor earlier this year, and the SUV has since got its first price increase. The firm has reintroduced the Shine trim level for the car, which was previously available with the pre-facelift version of the Hector, in addition to the latest price increase, which varies from Rs 27,000 to Rs 61,000. The carmaker has not mentioned the cause for the price increase, but it's likely to be mostly because of the powertrain upgrade to meet the new BS6 Phase 2 and RDE emission standards.

MG Hector Price Hike
The base Style 1.5 turbo-petrol MT model of the MG Hector has seen a price increase of Rs 27,000, bringing the starting price of the car to Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). Additionally, all diesel versions of the car have seen a price hike of Rs 61,000. The SUV is now priced at Rs 22.12 lakh (ex-showroom). The massive diamond-studded chrome grille on the facelifted Hector, which, claims MG, has been inspired by the well-known Argyle design pattern in Scotland, is the most noticeable modification to the 2023 iteration. It also has redesigned front and rear bumpers, split LED headlights, LED taillamps, Hector badging, and a reflector, which runs across the length of the boot lid. The Hector now has 18-inch alloy wheels with a stylish five-spoke dual-prong design.
The Hector gets the biggest touchscreen infotainment system (14 inches) in the segment, along with a panoramic sunroof, a fully digital driver's display, voice-controlled ambient lighting, a new gear lever, and an electronic parking brake switch. Level 2 ADAS is also available with the model.
The 2023 MG Hector comes with two engine options – a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. While a six-speed manual gearbox is standard, there is also a CVT gearbox, which is offered with the petrol engine. The DCT and mild-hybrid models have been withdrawn by the manufacturer.
MG Hector Plus Price Hike
You can get the Hector Plus in Smart, Smart Pro, Sharp Pro, and Savvy Pro versions. The Savvy Pro variant has received a price hike of no less than Rs 15,000, whereas the Sharp and Sharp Pro versions' prices would increase by no more than Rs 76,000. However, the price of the Sharp Pro petrol and diesel has increased by Rs 51,000 and Rs 61,000, respectively. Aside from that, the company has replaced the six-seat Sharp model with a seven-seat Smart model in the Hector Plus series.
The SUV is powered by either a 1.5-litre petrol or a 2.0-litre diesel engine, both of which are BS6 Phase 2 compatible. The former generates 141bhp of maximum power and 250Nm of peak torque, while the latter delivers 168bhp and 350Nm. A six-speed gearbox is standard, but a CVT gearbox is only available with the turbo-petrol engine.

MG Hector Shine Variant
The new Shine version comes in three powertrain configurations – petrol-MT, petrol-CVT, and diesel-MT, costing Rs 16.34 lakh, Rs 17.54 lakh, and Rs 18.59 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. For the uninitiated, only the five-seat Hector model, not the three-row Hector Plus, is available with the new trim level. Furthermore, in the MG Hector line-up, the Shine version is placed above the base Style variant.
The Style trim adds cruise control, push-button engine start/stop with keyless entry (CVT only), and driving mode choice (CVT only) to the standard Shine trim. Automatic turn indicators, a single-pane electric sunroof, a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, steering-mounted audio controls, LED projector headlights, full LED tail lamps, a reverse parking camera, an electric parking brake (CVT only), and other features are also included.
