Range Rover, Defender and More Help JLR India Register 31% YoY Sales Growth in Q1 FY2025
The Land Rover Defender along with the Range Rover Evoque accounted for over 50 per cent sales growth, with the former emerging as the highest-selling model in Q1 FY2025.
Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India has released its sales figures for the first quarter of the financial year 2025, clocking over 30 percent year-over-year (YoY) growth. The automaker sold 1,371 units compared to the same period of the last financial year ending March 2024 (1,048 units). Furthermore, JLR said its wholesale volumes grew over 45 percent year-over-year in Q1 FY2025, creating record sales for the automaker.
JLR attributed this growth to its Defender and Range Rover lineups. The Defender along with the Range Rover Evoque accounted for over 50 percent sales growth, with the former emerging as the highest-selling model in Q1 FY2025. Moreover, the combined sales of the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Defender made up 75 percent of the company's total order book.

'Our performance is tracking favourably as per our expectations. Alongside our robust sales, our order bank also grew by 10 percent compared to the beginning of the fiscal year, showing continuous growth in demand while we continue to enhance our supplies into the market,' said Rajan Amba, Managing Director, JLR India.
Rajan added, 'The Defender remains the most sought-after model, and with the extraordinary response to the locally manufactured Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, the company remains confident of sustaining this momentum and delivering another successful year. The Indian market is responding well to our exciting product lineup, and we are committed to our discerning clientele as we continue to create the world’s most desirable luxury vehicles.'
In the Indian market, JLR currently retails the Range Rover, Defender, Discovery, and the Jaguar F-Pace SUV. Speaking of which, the company recently added the most extreme and powerful model to the Defender lineup in India. Called the Octa, the model is priced from Rs 2.65 crore for the standard variant to Rs 2.85 crore for the Edition One. The bookings for both models are underway.

The Range Rover LWB and the Range Rover Sport, on the other side, will now be locally assembled in the country at JLR’s Chakan plant, joining the Velar, Evoque, Jaguar F-Pace, and Discovery Sport in the JLR’s lineup of vehicles produced locally. The Range Rover LWB starts at Rs 2.36 crore, while the Range Rover Sport asks for Rs 1.40 crore. The prices are ex-showroom.
