Audi Q5 facelift launched at Rs. 58.93 lakh

The Audi Q5 has made a comeback, but this time the mid-size crossover SUV gets only a petrol powerplant. Other changes include a few exterior styling tweaks and in-cabin changes.

The Audi Q5 facelift has been launched in India at a starting price of ₹58.93 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Premium Plus variant. The Technology variant has been priced at ₹63.77 lakh (ex-showroom). This iteration of the Q5 mainly gets some exterior cosmetic changes. The crossover-SUV is largely based on the same platform as before, and the interior is very similar to that of its predecessor.

The changes include a new grille design, sleeker headlamps, and reprofiled bumpers. Audi will only offer all-LED headlamps with this update of the Q5. The more advanced matrix headlamps have been given a miss.

The SUV also gets a reworked tail section. The new bits include a newly designed tail lamp, a more pronounced diffuser and a reprofiled bumper. The SUV also gets an option of upgrading to 20-inch wheel size – 19-inch alloy wheels are offered as standard.

One key highlight of the new Q5 is that it uses a 12.3-inch screen for instrumentation. On the centre of the dashboard, you will find a 10.1-inch MMI infotainment screen, which features Android Auto and Apple Carplay as well. The cabin can be optioned in Tan or Beige interiors. For added comfort, the Q5 gets three-zone climate control.

Moving to the engine part, there is a petrol-powered 2.0-litre four-pot-turbo mill under the hood. The output is marked at 248bhp in the 5,000 – 6,000rpm range, and 370Nm of peak torque is available in the 1,600rpm – 4,500rpm band. The gearbox is a seven-speed dual-clutch auto, which forwards the power to all the wheels via Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system.

The new Audi Q5 rivals the mid-size crossover SUVs of the premium segment, which mainly includes the Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3, Volvo XC60, Lexus NX, and Range Rover Evoque.
