2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Unveiled Globally with Tesla's NACS Charging Port and Off-road XRT Variant
The new off-road-focused XRT variant of the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 gets all-terrain tyres, improved rake front and rear, and a 23mm suspension lift.
Hyundai has unveiled the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 equipped with Tesla's NACS (North American Charging Standard) charging port. This makes it Hyundai's first US model to feature a NACS connector. As a result, customers can use more than 17,000 Tesla superchargers alongside the fast chargers already available. Along with a NACS port, the updated Ioniq 5 also brings more range as well as a new off-road-focused XRT variant.
Speaking of the XRT, the new off-road variant is positioned between the standard model and the high-performance Ioniq 5 N. The latter made its global debut in July 2023 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. While the Ioniq 5 N sits on 21-inch forged aluminium wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tyres, the new Ioniq 5 XRT features 18-inch aluminium wheels with all-terrain tyres. The XRT additionally gets an increased ground clearance, improved rake front and rear, and suspension tuning. Compared to the standard Ioniq 5, the XRT has a more rugged design with distinctive bumpers, digital camo pattern, black side skirts and Hyundai badges, as well as the HTRAC Liftgate badge and the IONIQ 5 badging.

Other bits include black mirror caps, red-painted tow hooks, and the XRT logo inscribed on the rear apron. Exterior colour options are Ultimate Red and Cosmic Blue Pearl. The interior of the XRT includes a black headliner, all-weather floor mats, and H-Tex seats with XRT-exclusive patterning. As for the powertrain, the off-road variant is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup and an 84kWh battery pack. Power and range are still under wraps.
2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5: Battery, Range
While the XRT gets only a bigger battery with AWD, the rest of the Ioniq 5 comes with two battery sizes – 63kWh (up from 58kWh) and 84kWh (up from 77.4kWh) – and is available in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. The 2025 Ioniq 5 RWD offers a claimed range of around 498km for the SE, SEL, and Limited variants, while the SE Standard Range (in RWD guise) has a 387km range. The AWD variants' range varies from 402km to 450km, depending on the variant selected.
2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5: Exterior, Interior
Apart from revised bumpers, the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 (non-XRT) gets a new rear spoiler, flush-type roof side rails, more aero-efficient wheels, and new colourways (Atlas White Matte, Ecotronic Gray Matte, Celadon Gray Matte). On the inside, the vehicle offers a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, redesigned HVAC controls, a new steering wheel, heated rear seats (SEL and above), a new centre console with physical seat heater controls, and USB-C ports.

2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5: Safety Kit
Safety-wise, Hyundai has equipped the 2025 version of the Ioniq 5 with a rear windshield wiper and washer, remote parking assist, blind-spot collision warning and assist, forward attention warning, advanced rear occupant alert, better side collision protection, parking distance warning and assist, and eight airbags.
