Mahindra eKUV100 Preview

The Mahindra eKUV100 is an upcoming electric car that represents a paradigm shift in the way we perceive electric vehicles. It shall be based on the well-selling gasoline-based SUV – the Mahindra KUV100 NXT which is a sub-4-metre SUV.

At the Auto Expo 2020, it was clear that Mahindra’s focus was on electric vehicles. Apart from showcasing the e2o NXT and an electric bus, the company also took the wraps off an electrically-powered KUV100. In a market flooded with options, this compact SUV shall stand out for its combination of performance, and environmental consciousness.

Here is an overview of the anticipated features and specifications of this upcoming Mahindra car.

Mahindra eKUV100 Engine and Other Specifications

At the heart of the eKUV100 shall be the same motor that powered the e-Verito. The 30kW powerhouse shall give it a driving range of 140 kilometres on a single charge. The Nashik-based carmaker has also brought in a quick charging feature, which means the eKUV100 can be charged in less time. Perhaps, it would be charged 0% to 80% within an hour. Mahindra may also offer another powertrain during the launch of this car.

The other Mahindra eKUV100 specifications might include a five-speed automatic transmission system, a well-tuned suspension setup, and efficient brakes. In the front, it should include an independent McPherson strut with dual-path mounts, coil springs, and hydraulic gas-charged shock absorbers. The rear suspension could be a semi-independent twist beam with coil springs and hydraulic gas-charged shock absorbers. The wheels might be made of steel for lower variants and alloy for the higher variants. Furthermore, the braking system is expected to have front discs and rear drum brakes.

In terms of dimensions, it shall be less than 4000mm in length and have a wheelbase of less than 2400mm. The ground clearance could be 170mm and kerb weight could be around 1100 kg.

Mahindra eKUV100 Exterior

Design-wise, the eKUV100 looks identical to its petrol-powered counterpart. The only visual differentiation between the two models is the badge. The available pictures suggest that the exterior blends ruggedness with contemporary style. Its compact dimensions are accentuated by muscular wheel arches, a bold front grille, and stylish headlamps, exuding a dynamic appeal. Further, the dual-tone body colours and sharp character lines along with the floating roof line add a touch of modernity. It flaunts an SUV stance that is complemented by stylish alloy wheels and integrated roof rails, emphasizing aesthetics and functionality.

Mahindra eKUV100 Interior

The cabin of this compact SUV shall be inviting and shall combine comfort and functionality seamlessly. It should be spacious enough to accommodate five occupants comfortably, with ergonomically designed seats and ample legroom. The dashboard is expected to feature a user-friendly layout, integrating modern technology and connectivity options. The infotainment system shall have a responsive touchscreen, providing access to entertainment and navigation features. The Mahindra eKUV100 interior should also reflect a premium feel with quality materials and refined finishes. Overall, it should be a blend of comfort, convenience, and contemporary design.

Mahindra eKUV100 Safety Features

This upcoming car is expected to be equipped with dual front airbags and ABS with EBD. It is also slated to have a robust monocoque structure that, along with airbags, would ensure occupant protection in a collision. Additionally, it should include ISOFIX child seat mounts to further emphasize its commitment to family safety. Anti-theft security, engine immobilizer, and central locking system shall also be there, to offer protection against theft.
