<p>Mahindra and Mahindra (M&amp;M) started its automotive operations in India with the assembly of the Willys Jeep and soon ventured into the production of Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs). Originally known as a maker of Jeeps, the Mahindra Bolero was the vehicle that truly put Mahindra on the map as a large-scale passenger car maker.</p>

<p>The first-ever Mahindra car in India was the Bolero which was the first SUV produced by the company. The Bolero quickly found a strong customer base in rural and semi-urban areas and it has gone on to become the highest-selling UV produced by Mahindra, till date. To cater to a growing demand for SUVs, the company soon after launched the Scorpio in 2002 which helped establish Mahindra as one of the most prominent SUV makers in the country. Prior to the Bolero and Scorpio, Mahindra was selling Jeeps such as the MM540, MM775 and the Armada MUV. Adding to that instant success was also the aggressively-set Mahindra car prices.</p>

<p>Therefore, over the years, Mahindra has garnered the reputation for building rugged, off-road capability vehicles with strong levels of refinement and luxury. Back in the day, the company also ventured into the production of Mahindra electric vehicles through its subsidiary, Mahindra Electric with models such as the E-Verito and e2o Plus. Mahindra has added a new S5 variant to its Scorpio line of models. The mid-spec S5 will fill the gap between the base and top-spec variations of the SUV due to the significant price difference between the two variants.

The waiting period for the updated Scorpio Classic SUV has increased to more than seven months in India. In April 2023, the Mahindra Scorpio SUV sales increased significantly, and the Classic SUV was a part of the achievement.

The Mahindra Scorpio Classic gets a few minor cosmetic updates over the previous-gen Scorpio but, more importantly, gets major mechanical updates and a more streamlined variant lineup.

The Mahindra Scorpio Classic brings a new engine, major updates to the suspension and more features, to the design and styling of the last-gen Scorpio. Mahindra will offer the Scorpio Classic in two variants, with 7 -and 9-seater configurations and there's no 4WD on offer.

After the Scorpio-N, Mahindra is all set to debut the reworked Scorpio Classic in India. The car will be placed a rung lower to the Scorpio-N and will come with a sole diesel engine.
