Mahindra XUV700 to Get New Entry-Level Petrol AT Variant Soon in India
Everest White, Midnight Black, Dazzling Silver, Red Rage, and Electric Blue make up the list of six colour schemes offered for the SUV. Apart from these, the Mahindra XUV700 recently received a fresh Napoli Black paint job for all variants as standard.
Mahindra only just revised the prices of the XUV700 and launched a six-seater version in India. Now, it seems likely that the domestic SUV manufacturer will soon extend the XUV700's range to satisfy a broad spectrum of customers. The automaker will bring a new model based on the base MX variant. With this, an automatic gearbox will be introduced for the XUV700's lower-spec models in India. Since its release in August 2021, Mahindra's SUV has proven to be a huge success for the company. The homegrown carmaker's flagship model is presently available for purchase on the market with prices ranging between Rs 13.99 lakh and Rs 26.99 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom). Moreover, there are two primary variants for the mid-size SUV: MX and AX. The latter is further divided into three trim levels: AX3, AX5, and AX7. Meanwhile, the base-spec MX variant, which comes in a five-seater configuration, can be had with petrol or diesel engine options.
Mahindra XUV700 New Variant: Expected Price and Competition Check
In terms of price, we anticipate the petrol automatic XUV700 to cost approximately Rs 15.80 lakh (ex-showroom), given that the petrol automatic versions are priced at a premium of Rs 1.8 lakh over their comparable manual variants. The current price of the petrol-powered XUV700 MX is Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Consequently, those who are interested in bringing home the XUV700 petrol automatic will likely get it for approximately Rs 2.40 lakh less than the petrol-AT AX3 trim, which costs Rs 18.19 lakh (ex-showroom).
Speaking of its market competitors, the XUV700 fights off against the Tata Safari, the Hyundai Alcazar, the MG Hector Plus, the Hyundai Creta, the Kia Seltos, the MG Hector, the Skoda Kushaq, and the Volkswagen Taigun.
Mahindra XUV700: Powertrain Options
Under the hood, two engine options are available for the SUV: a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel. The turbo-petrol configuration yields a maximum power output of 197bhp and a peak torque of 380Nm, while the diesel engine churns out 182bhp and 450Nm of torque. Moving on, there are two transmission options: a six-speed manual and a six-speed torque converter. Additionally, the more advanced diesel SUV models have the option of the AWD system.

The SUV is fitted with 17-inch steel rims, unlike the top-of-the-line variants. It does not, however, boast AX3 trim's optional features such as an 8.0-inch digital driver display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two extra speakers, LED daytime running lights, a rear seat armrest, and 60:40 split-folding rear seats.
