Maruti Suzuki Fronx Spotted Testing in India with ADAS, Launch Soon?
Maruti Suzuki plans to bring the Fronx facelift to the Indian market by 2025. Upon its launch here, the SUV will be the fourth vehicle in the segment to feature ADAS.
In India, Fronx is one of the most well-liked sub-4-metre models. Based on the Baleno, this coupe crossover has performed exceptionally well in our market. Recently, a partially camouflaged test mule of the Fronx was spotted doing rounds on the Indian roads. This time around, the mule was equipped with an ADAS suite. In the latest spy shots, the ADAS sensor can be seen on the front grille, unlike the India-spec car, which does not have one. This suggests that Maruti Suzuki might be considering introducing this feature in India. That being said, the brand may not offer a Level 2 ADAS suite. It is anticipated to include only a Level 1 ADAS package with functions like High Beam Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Vehicle Departure Alert, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Following Assist.
Models like Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet offer Level 1 ADAS suite in this segment, whereas the Mahindra XUV 3XO comes with Level 2 ADAS tech. Maruti Suzuki plans to bring the Fronx facelift to the Indian market by next year. Upon its launch here, the SUV will be the fourth vehicle in the segment to feature ADAS.

An All-new Hybrid Engine?
In other news, Maruti Suzuki is working on its hybrid engine, known as HEV. This engine will be available in several models, such as the Fronx facelift, new-gen Brezza, Swift Hybrid, and the Baleno facelift. The all-new hybrid engine will make its debut with the Fronx facelift. A 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Z12E engine, a smaller, 1.5-2kWh battery pack, and an electric motor will make up this unit. The Z12E engine will function as a generator, charging the battery pack. Following the upcoming Fronx facelift, the next-gen Baleno will receive this powerful hybrid engine.

Maruti Suzuki has begun exporting the Fronx to Japan. It is currently the only market offering the Fronx with an ADAS suite. The SUV manufactured for the Japanese market houses a 1.5-litre petrol engine, similar to the Fronx sold in other export markets; the India-spec does not have this engine. While the SUV is only available with the FWD option in other foreign markets, the Japanese-spec models will include Suzuki's AllGrip Select AWD technology and several other unique features. It is important to note that the automaker is also working on incorporating the feature into the Grand Vitara.
