<p>Founded in 2005, Renault India is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Renault S.A. Renault entered the Indian car market through Mahindra Renault; a joint venture with Mahindra and Mahindra Group and the first and only car launched under this venture was the Logan sedan.</p>

<p>While setting up camp, Renault established its global logistics network in India for supplying spares to its manufacturing facilities around the world. It also opened a bespoke design studio in Mumbai in 2008. Later, Renault ended its alliance with Mahindra in 2010 to form a new alliance with Nissan, resulting in a new manufacturing facility in Chennai, as part of the new venture.</p>

<p>Renault, the French car manufacturer, has its headquarters based in Mumbai.</p>

<p>Starting afresh, Renault launched the Fluence sedan in 2011, which became the first ever Renault car in India, followed by the global debut of the Koleos SUV a few months later. The 2012 Auto Expo in Delhi saw the launch of the new Pulse hatchback and the unveiling of the Duster SUV. The year ended for Renault with the launch of yet another model, the Scala.</p>

<p>Renault’s product line-up for India includes the Duster, Kwid, Lodgy and Captur. The Kwid and Duster have been successful car models by Renault in India, with their entry-level hatchback offering, receiving more than 25,000 bookings within the first few days of its launch. The Duster has also reached the 1 lakh cars milestone, which is quite a feat for the carmaker.</p>

<p>Renault car prices start from around 2.6 lakh rupees for the 2018 Kwid and go up to double-digit figures for rest of the line-up. Renault car price listings can be found on the website of autoX.</p>

Decent package overall

<p>Automatic gears are always convenient to use and make driving hassle-free. However, if Renault can give AMT in mid-variant, then other basic features such as front power windows and trip computer should also be there. Other than this flaw, the car drives nicely and the suspension is quite good at absorbing bumps. Fuel economy is decent for an automatic.</p>


Fuel Economy is a bit disappointing

<p>The Kwid is a stylish car for city use but it definitely is not the most fuel efficient one around. The 800cc engine itself is very mediocre. It is buzzy and the pick up of the car isn&rsquo;t all that effortless. I get around 13km/l in city and around 18-19 on highway, which is not bad, but u expect a lot more from a 800cc car!</p>


Some basic features missing

<p>While Renault has focused on providing hyped features like touchscreen navigation system on this car, they forgot some bare basics ...like internally adjustable outside mirrors! WHile test driving the car, I did not even bother to check this out since its something we take for granted now a days. After buying the top end trim, I was surprised to learn that to adjust outside mirrors, you have to move the mirror manually like it used to happen on Maruti 800! Like seriously Renault?</p>

This special edition Renault Kwid is inspired by the liveries of Marvel Superheroes Captain America and Iron Man. Renault seems to be a car maker that firmly believes in the philosophy of ‘out of sight, out of mind’, especially when it comes to the Kwid.

The Renault Kwid is all-set to get some superhero inspired paint schemes. Renault India has teased two new Kwid variants on its official Twitter handle with Marvel’s Iron Man and Captain America insignias in the background. 

Launched in 2015, the Kwid has set a new sales benchmark for Renault India with over 1.75 lakh units already sold. The Renault Kwid has managed to cross the 1,75,000 sales mark within two years of its launch. This makes the Kwid the fastest selling car in Renault India’s line-up.

Renault launches the automatic version of the Kwid in top-end RxT (O) specification. Is even more efficient than its manual counterpart.

Renault has put a sticker price on the new automatic version of its Kwid entry-level hatchback that reads Rs. 4.25 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
