Tata Harrier Facelift – New vs Old: What's Different?
Tata Motors has unveiled the new Harrier for the Indian market ahead of its official launch. Let's take a look at how the SUV has transformed in terms of design, features, and more.
The Tata Harrier has finally received the generational update since its launch in January 2019. The SUV, along with its twin, the Safari, has been redesigned for 2023 and includes plenty of improvements over the standard version. Bookings for the Harrier and the Safari are currently open for Rs 25,000, with costs anticipated to be disclosed shortly. The previous Harrier is priced from Rs 15.20 lakh to Rs 24.27 lakh. Following the generational shift, the new Harrier is expected to command a large premium above the regular model. However, now that the face of the new Harrier for our market has been revealed, let's take a closer look at the improvements that the SUV has gained for 2023.
Tata Harrier Facelift – New vs Old: Design
The grille on the Harrier Facelift is comparable in size, but it is now darkened with chrome accents. The updated SUV sports an attached LED light bar and a split LED headlamp arrangement, which is substantially more compact compared to its predecessor. The headlight housings are linked by a piano black strip. When viewed from the side, the SUV's floating roof style gives off classic Harrier impressions. Additionally, there is a new design for the 18-inch wheels, which differs depending on the variant. Aside from this, the Facelift gets three new exterior paint schemes: Sunlit Yellow, Pebble Grey, and Seaweed Green. At the back, the facelift has minor improvements, which consist of new linked LED tail lamps, reprofiled bumpers, relocated reflectors, and reverse lights on the bumper.
Tata Harrier Facelift – New vs Old: Interior and Features
The updated Harrier comes in Pure, Adventure, Smart, Fearless, and Dark variants, featuring its own theme and upholstery. The Harrier now includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system as well as a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster. In addition, a four-spoke steering wheel with paddle shifters and an illuminated Tata logo is also included. JBL's 10-speaker sound system, motorized driver and co-driver seats, rear-row sun shades, an air purifier, heated front seats, and more are among the other interior changes. The SUV's updated safety package comprises seven airbags for the highest-spec model and six airbags for lower-spec versions. Adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning are also part of the ADAS system.
Tata Harrier Facelift – New vs Old: Engine
The Harrier's drivetrain remains unchanged, with a 2-litre diesel motor producing 168bhp and 350Nm and a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. The addition of paddle shifters for a more dynamic driving experience is a significant enhancement in the facelifted model.
