Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has announced a voluntary recall for 2,305 Glanza hatchbacks across India. The issue stems from a malfunctioning fuel pump motor in the impacted Toyota Glanza vehicles, produced between April 2 and October 6, 2019. The impacted units' fuel pump motor problem may cause the engine to stall or have trouble starting. According to the manufacturer, the recall effort is an extension of the one that was started on July 31, 2020. In the domestic market, the Glanza is currently available for purchase in four variants, namely E, S, G, and V, across manual and automatic gearbox options. The price range for the car starts at Rs 6.86 lakh and goes up to Rs 10 lakh. Both mentioned costs are ex-showroom figures.
A few days back, Maruti Suzuki recalled 11,851 units of the Baleno due to the same reason. This recall concerned the models manufactured between July 30 and November 1, 2019. Since they are essentially badge-engineered cousins, the Glanza and the Baleno have similar underpinnings. Toyota stated that the vehicles in question may have a problem with the fuel pump motor, which might cause the engine to stall. As per the recall campaign guidelines, the carmaker will notify the owners of the impacted vehicles and fix the issue. It is important to note that the inspection and replacement of the defective part will be done free of cost.
