Toyota has received such an overwhelming response for its upcoming pickup truck, that the company has paused accepting bookings for the new Hilux. However, the bookings will resume soon, promises the Japanese giant.
On January 20, Toyota revealed the India-spec Hilux and officially commenced the bookings for the same. Within a span of 15 days, Toyota India has temporarily suspended bookings for its upcoming pickup. The Japanese carmaker says that this decision has been made due to the difficulties in the supply chain – mainly hinting at the global semiconductor shortage – which will make it difficult for the maker to deliver to the overwhelming response for the product.
Toyota promises to resume the booking for the Hilux very soon. We suspect that the second batch of bookings will commence around the same time when Toyota officially announces the prices for the Hilux.
‘In light of various factors impacting our supply, we are unable to meet the heightened demand. Thus, we deeply regret our temporary halt of bookings for the Hilux with a view to avoiding any further inconvenience to our customers,’ said Toyota India in a press release.
The pre-bookings commenced for a token of Rs 1 lakh for buyers who booked the pickup at Toyota’s authorised dealership. However, interested customers who booked the Toyota Hilux via the online method, paid Rs 50,000 as the token amount.
The official price announcement is expected sometime in the month of March 2022; the Hilux will mainly rival the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross which recently saw a price revision as well.
