Toyota Innova Crysta Waiting Period Reaches up to 9 Months in India
Toyota's upcoming plant at Bidadi will increase its annual production capacity to 5 lakh units from the existing 4 lakh units, according to market reports.
The relaunched Toyota Innova Crysta, which is aimed at fleet owners, now sees a rise in its waiting period since the time we last reported about it in September 2023. The delivery timings for the Innova Crysta have gone from 30 weeks (about 7.5 months) to 9 months in India. Toyota reintroduced the MPV as a 2023 model in March this year, the prices for which currently range from Rs 19.99 lakh to Rs 26.05 lakh (ex-showroom, India) – these prices have undergone revisions over time.
Last year, the carmaker temporarily discontinued its highly popular MPV, which now comes with a BS6 Phase 2-compliant powertrain. A 2.4-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine in the Toyota Innova Crysta makes 148bhp and 343Nm of peak torque. This engine comes paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Also on offer are two drive modes – Eco and Power.

The updated Toyota Innova Crysta comes in G, GX, VX, and ZX variants. Of these 4, the ZX is the only one that is offered with a 7-seater layout; the other three come with both 7- and 8-seater options. That said, the GX and VX variants of the Innova Crysta have a uniform waiting period of nine months.
Toyota's Third Manufacturing Plant in India: Here's What We Know
Since several Toyota vehicles, like the Hycross and the Hyryder, are said to have lengthy wait times, it is expected that the long waiting periods for these vehicles will drastically decrease with the opening of Toyota's new plant. In the recent past, Toyota and the Karnataka government inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of the third production facility in Bidadi, near Bengaluru. According to a Reuters report, this would increase its production capacity by 1 lakh units per annum – the existing two factories can produce about 4 lakh units annually.
As per the MoU, the automaker plans to invest around Rs 3,300 crore for the third plant, with production expected to commence by 2026. While the company has yet to disclose details about the vehicles that will be manufactured at this facility, market reports suggest that the new plant will serve as the primary production hub for Toyota's upcoming three-row SUV.
