Toyota has launched the Urban Cruiser Taisor in India at a starting price of Rs 7.74 lakh (ex-showroom). The Taisor is a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx and the sixth product under collaboration between Maruti Suzuki and Toyota. Unlike its Japanese counterpart, the sub-4m SUV features a unique grille, LED DRLs, and alloy wheels. Inside, the Taisor retains the Fronx's layout, except for Toyota badging on the steering wheel. Toyota's new car offers enhanced safety features such as up to six airbags, a 360-degree camera, hill-hold assist, rear parking sensors, and electronic stability control (ESC). Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor: Exterior and Interior
The Urban Cruiser Taisor closely resembles the Fronx, with a few modifications. These include a new honeycomb grille, tweaked front bumpers, and linear-style LED DRLs in place of Fronx's three-cube ones. The Taisor rides on the newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels with diamond cuts. The colour options for the model include Cafe White, Enticing Silver, Sportin Red, Lucent Orange, and Gaming Grey. You can opt for the first three with a roof that is blacked out.
The cabin of the Taisor is identical to that of the Fronx. It comes equipped with features such as a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, connected car technology, wireless phone charging, head-up display, 360-degree cameras, rear AC vents, and a height-adjustable driver’s seat.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor: Powertrain
The Fronx's 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, K-series petrol engine, which generates 88.5bhp and 113Nm, is transferred into the Taisor. Moreover, a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 98.6bhp and 147.6Nm is also available. Toyota has also introduced a CNG version of the Taisor (1.2-litre motor with 76.44bhp and 98.5Nm). Three different transmissions are on offer: a 5-speed manual, a 5-speed automated manual (AMT) for the 1.2-litre engine, and a 6-speed torque converter automatic for the 1.0-litre motor.
