The M duo's 999cc inline-four cylinder engine produces 210bhp for the RR variant and about 207bhp for the R variant.
The Bavarian automaker, BMW, has unveiled the new 2023 M 1000 RR and M 1000 R for the global market. BMW will offer both bikes in standard and M competition variants. While the RR debuted with the M-badge in 2020, the same is now available for the first time in the naked litre R class. Compared to their standard models, both bikes come packed with carbon fibre components and a slew of electronics. One of the main selling points of BMWs with the M-badge has always been their performance, and the new M 1000 RR and M 1000 R certainly promise to deliver on that front.
Let's start with its liquid-cooled, 4-cylinder engine that now boasts more power. The M duo's 999cc inline-four cylinder engine produces 210bhp for the RR variant and about 207bhp for the R variant. The greater output is a result of the BMW ShiftCam technology, CNC-machined intake ports, and forged pistons. The M 1000 RR and M 1000 R retain the same design as the S variants. However, BMW has inserted new aerodynamic winglets into the M 1000 RR, generating 11kg of downforce at 220km/h. The hyper-naked sports bike also features a wind deflector behind the instrument console.
As for the electronic suite, both bikes are loaded with lean-sensitive traction control and ABS, and multiple riding modes that alter throttle and engine braking characteristics. Hill hold, pit-lane limiter, and launch control are some of the other features. Besides this, the front brake cooling ducts are made of carbon fibre. The list also comprises other premium additions like forged aluminium rims for the M 1000 R and forged carbon or aluminium rims for the M 1000 RR.
Both the M 1000 models are currently only offered in the international market and have not yet been released in India. Given that the previous generation M 1000 RR costs a staggering ₹42 lakh (ex-showroom), it is anticipated that the latest models might have a price tag close to that or even more! .
