2023 Yamaha FZ-X to Launch in India Soon; What to Expect
The brand-new Yamaha FZ-X was launched in June 2022. The neo-retro bike is about to get its first update. According to recent spy shots, the 2023 FZ-X will be equipped with dual-channel ABS. A dirt bike-style front fender and a windscreen will also be added to the FZ-X.
Yamaha, the well-known motorcycle manufacturer, plans to introduce a range of products in India soon. According to Eishin Chihana, chairman of Yamaha, the RX brand will make a comeback in 2026 or later and will feature an engine larger than 100cc. The company intends to bring some of its larger bikes to India, including the R7, the MT-09, and an electric scooter. However, Chihana has previously stated that the company is more interested in the 125cc to 150cc segment and may explore the possibility of launching an ADV in this market as well. The Japanese manufacturer is set to introduce the 2023 version of the FZ-X, a bike built on the popular FZS platform but featuring styling from the XSR line. Since the current model already complies with the latest emission standards, no modifications to the engine are expected. The 149cc, single-cylinder, BS6-compliant engine produces a maximum output of 12.2bhp at 7,250rpm and a peak torque of 13.3Nm at 5,500rpm. The motor's five-speed gearbox will continue to be used. So, let’s look at what we can expect from the all-new Yamaha FZ-X in terms of styling, hardware, features and more.
The upcoming edition of the Yamaha FZ-X is expected to receive a cosmetic overhaul, and the new bike will feature a flyscreen up front for better windblast protection, as seen in the spy shot. The motorcycle seems to have a tall-set front fender as well, which will enhance the model's off-road appeal. It will also feature a metal frame connecting the gasoline tank and the headlight, a design element similar to the Royal Enfield Himalayan. The motorcycle will continue to have the projector-style headlight and LED DRLs from the previous model. We don't expect the rest of the design to be different from that of the previous iteration, which means that the fuel tank will probably be encased in plastic, and the bike is likely to have a flat seat, alloy wheels, and a side-slung exhaust.

In terms of hardware, the upcoming bike will still have telescopic front forks and a mono-shock with preload adjustment for the rear suspension. The safety net of the Yamaha FZ-X will now incorporate dual-channel ABS, while the braking system will consist of a single disc on both wheels. The motorcycle will be mounted on alloy wheels, in a golden hue, shod with dual-purpose tubeless tyres.
The motorcycle has a long list of high-end features, which are not expected to change. This means that the all-new Yamaha FZ-X will continue with a Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster with the Y-Connect smartphone application. The display will provide information regarding calls, SMS and email alerts, and the battery status of the phone. The smartphone app, on the other hand, will offer information on fuel usage, maintenance advice, the place where it was last parked, fault notifications, rev dashboard, and ranking (for distance travelled and fuel economy). Instead of the single-channel ABS found in the previous model, the upcoming model will have two channels.

The overall cost of the bike might increase as a result of all the above-mentioned revisions, making the new Yamaha FZ-X more expensive. For comparison, the current model costs Rs 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom).
