New Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter Spotted Ahead of Upcoming India Launch
Bajaj will launch the upcoming Chetak electric scooter on December 20 in India. Per spy shots, the scooter will have steel wheels, drum brakes, new chassis, and a conventional key setup.
Bajaj Auto is preparing to launch the update for its upcoming Chetak electric scooter, the price for which is anticipated to be revealed on December 20, 2024. Although that is still some time away, the latest set of spy images previews expected features. Bajaj will most likely keep the stylish, retro-modern design while bringing in subtle changes such as revised body panels and redesigned LED taillamps. New colour options might be introduced as well. Instrumentation-wise, we expect a new display, likely with smartphone connectivity and navigation.
Since the revamp is aimed at improving the electric scooter’s practicality for everyday riders, the new Chetak is expected to utilise a new chassis with a battery housed under the floorboard area, thereby liberating more boot space. This will address the growing demand for bigger underseat storage and put it on par with its rivals like the Ola S1, TVS iQube, and the Ather Rizta. The Chetak currently offers 21 litres of storage capacity.

New Bajaj Chetak: Battery, Range
As for its battery, expect the upcoming Chetak to come with a (repositioned) battery pack with new cells, potentially boosting its range while maintaining a capacity similar to the current model, which offers between 123km and 137km, depending on the model. The new version is expected to extend that range, making it more appealing for consumers seeking longer-range electric scooters.
New Bajaj Chetak: Other Bits
The spy shots also reveal steel wheels and drum brakes at both ends. Having said that, the test mule misses out on the lockable glove box, which the existing Chetak features behind its front apron. There is also the absence of a keyless ignition system. Instead, the scooter has a more conventional and physical key slot on the right-hand side.
