New Bajaj Chetak EV Range Launched in India; Prices Start at Rs 1.20 Lakh

Bajaj Auto has launched the newest version of its electric scooter, the Chetak, which has been on the Indian market since 2020. The Indian two-wheeler manufacturer has introduced the new Chetak 3501, 3502, and 3503 models under its '35 series.' The Chetak 3502 variant carries a price tag of Rs 1.20 lakh. The 3501, on the other hand, retails for Rs 1.27 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom, Bangalore. The price of the 3503 model will be announced later.
The updated Chetak brings a host of improvements, particularly in the battery, as well as the addition of several new features. It also receives cosmetic changes to ensure its design stays modern and relevant. In terms of market competition, the EV will continue to rival several popular e-scooter models such as the Ather 450X, TVS iQube, and the Ola S1. The bookings for the model are underway and the deliveries are scheduled to commence by the end of the year.

New Bajaj Chetak Electric: Fresh Updates
The new Chetak range comes with an upgraded platform, additional features, and a refreshed design. The seat length has been increased by 80mm, now measuring 725mm, providing more comfort for riders. The updated model features a new screen with advanced functionalities, and it offers an impressive 35-litre of under-seat storage space, enough to fit two helmets. The wheelbase has been extended by 25mm, and the floorboard is now longer, improving rider ergonomics.
The Chetak EV is propelled by a new 3.5kWh battery, protected by a sturdier metal sheet for added durability. The motor generates 5.6bhp of power and helps in achieving a top speed of 73km/h. Furthermore, the scooter boasts a range of 153 km on a single charge, up from the previous 125 km, thanks to a redesigned cooling system for the motor and controllers. It also comes with a 950-watt onboard charger, allowing for a 0-80% charge in just 3 hours.

Along with these technical upgrades, the Chetak EV also boasts refreshed design updates to keep its look modern and appealing. It features a neo-classic styling, a circular headlamp with DRL, a Chetak badge, metallic finish, integrated turn indicators, and a sleek apron. The rear design maintains continuity with the earlier model, featuring an extended tail section with tail lamps and the Chetak logo.

Features-wise, the new range sports a digital instrument cluster, featuring a 5-inch touch TFT display that provides key information about the vehicle. It offers navigation with integrated maps, music controls, and smartphone connectivity. The scooter has ditched the traditional mechanical switches in favour of the tactile ones. Lastly, functionalities such as accident alerts, geo-fencing, overspeed warnings, and theft detection enhance the safety quotient of the model.
