Say hello to the new Honda Activa 6G. The latest iteration of Honda’s best-selling scooter has been updated with a BS-VI compliant engine, while it also gets a couple of new features. The Honda Activa 6G is priced at Rs 63,912 for the standard variant and Rs 65,412 for the DLX variant. Both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi, and reflect a price hike of around Rs 8,000 over the outgoing BS-IV Activa 5G.
The main highlight of the Activa 6G is its BS-VI powertrain. It’s an all-new motor that now displaces 109.51cc instead of the previous 109.19cc. It also comes with fuel injection for better combustion and cleaner emissions. The power and torque figures are down from 8bhp to 7.7bhp and 9Nm to 8.8Nm, respectively. However, Honda claims the fuel efficiency has gone up by 10 per cent in the Activa 6G. Aside from the new motor, chassis too is all-new - derrived from the one on the Activa 125. At 1,833mm, the 6G is also 72mm longer than the model it replaces. It also gets a longer 1,260mm wheelbase, which Honda says has allowed them to create more space in the floorboard. The seat-height of the Activa 6G is down to 692mm from 765mm in the 5G.
Apart from all these changes, the Activa 6G gets a number of new features. The scooter now comes with telescopic suspension at the front, an external fuel lid, silent engine start tech, engine kill switch, 12-inch front wheel, and 3-step rear adjustable suspension (preload adjustable). LED headlamp will only be offered only with the DLX version. The instrument cluster continues to be analogue just like the outgoing model. However, even in the new model, the disc brake has been given a miss, meaning the Activa 6G is only available with drum brakes at both ends. The combined braking system is standard though.
The Honda Activa 6G will compete with the likes of the TVS Jupiter and Hero Duet.
