Ola's First Electric Motorcycle to Launch by FY2026 in India
Ola has plans to expand its product portfolio to also cover the mass-market motorcycle segment to capture a diverse customer base across segments.
Remember when Ola Electric showcased its four futuristic electric motorcycle concepts – the Adventure, Roadster, Cruiser, and the futuristic-looking Diamondhead – at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) last year? Ola has now announced that its first electric motorcycle will reach the showrooms in the first half of the financial year 2026, suggesting that the launch could take place between May and September 2025. Additionally, Ola intends to expand its portfolio to the mass-market motorcycle segment in the long run.
In its draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) for its initial public offer (IPO), Ola Electric said, 'We expect to begin delivery of the motorcycles in the first half of fiscal 2026. It added, 'We plan to further expand our product portfolio to also cover mass market motorcycles to capture a broader base of consumers across different product types and price points in the long run'. While the company had revealed its plans for electric bikes a year ago, it filed design patents for three new electric bikes only recently.

The design patents reveal that all three motorcycles are similar to the Ola Roadster concept e-bike, although with some visual distinctions that set them apart. Ola will use the same platform for its electric motorcycles, ensuring uniformity in battery and mid-mounted motor specifications.
The electric motorcycle segment is yet to pick up steam in the Indian market since the segment is still very nascent with only a few manufacturers (Ultraviolette, Revolt) currently selling their products. Speaking of the former, Ultraviolette Automotive launched its fastest and most powerful electric motorcycle – the F77 Mach 2 – in April 2024. Carrying a starting price of Rs 2.99 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom), the bike comes in two range variants – Mach 2 (with a 211km range) and Mach 2 Recon (with a 323km range).
'Limited options have restricted EV penetration in the motorcycle segment to less than 1 per cent, with major EV play in the more than Rs 1 lakh price segment. With the strengthening of supply in popular price segments through R&D and technological advancements, penetration in the electric motorcycle segment is also expected to see an uptick,' the company said.
