Royal Enfield has big plans for EICMA 2021. The Indian motorcycle maker is expected to introduce new concepts, affordable 350cc motorcycles, and a few special editions of existing RE models.
Royal Enfield was established in the year 1901, which makes this year its 120th anniversary. To commemorate its 120th anniversary, Royal Enfield will introduce the ‘120 Year Edition’ of the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. The special editions will be revealed at EICMA 2021, which has been scheduled from November 25 to 28.
The new 120 Year Edition will mainly include a unique badge on the side of the fuel tank. On the top, there will be a golden motif between pinstripes. The base colour, however, will be chrome, which we have already seen on most Royal Enfield models in the past.
The standard Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 get chrome-finished engine block, clutch, and gearbox cover. The 120 Year Edition of both these motorcycles will get a matte-black finish on the engine and gearbox externals. The motorcycles are likely to have hand-painted brown pinstripes on both fenders as well.
Mechanically, both the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 will continue to be the same. The motorcycles will be powered by a parallel-twin 648cc oil-cooled motor. The gearbox will be the same six-speed unit, and there will be no change in the power output. The motorcycles will produce 47bhp at 7,150rpm and 52Nm at 5,250rpm.
The new 120 Year Edition of the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 will be launched in India soon. Both new editions will demand a premium over the price of the standard motorcycles.
