TVS Ronin 225 launched in India, price starts at Rs 1.49 lakh
The TVS Ronin 225 is a newly conceived motorcycle. It’s a scrambler with a 225cc engine with dual-purpose tyres and is looking to conquer both, the urban jungle and an actual jungle. It has been launched at a starting price of Rs 1.49 lakh.
Better late than never, TVS has finally arrived in the lifestyle motorcycling genre with a scrambler.
The TVS Ronin 225 has been launched in India and its price starts at Rs 1.49 lakh. The Ronin is TVS’ first attempt at making a scrambler, and with it, the Indian bikemaker has also entered the lifestyle motorcycling genre. To that effect, it also launched a line of motorcycling gear specific to the Ronin. There are three variants of the Ronin, and the prices also change according to the colour scheme. Detailed prices are given in the table below:

It’s been given a 225.9cc engine, that makes 20.1bhp and 19.93Nm. The top speed of the motorcycle is capped at 120km/h, and TVS says that the engine has been tuned for a flat torque-curve, promoting rideability in different traffic conditions.
Suspension duties are taken care of by USD (up-side down) 41mm Showa forks at the front, and a monoshock at the rear. The braking hardware comprises of disc brakes on both ends. There is ABS on both wheels (on the top-end variant) and you even get Urban and Rain ABS modes! At the front, the Ronin 225 sports a 110/70 section tyre whereas, at the back, it has a 130/70 section tyre. Both wheels are 17-inches in diameter, and the tyres have an all-terrain Button pattern tread and are made of an improved version of the Remora compound.
On the features front, the Ronin 225 packs in an auxiliary dashboard. It’s highly customisable and according to TVS, will offer a more car-like experience. The lighting is all LED, and you get a very fashionable round headlight with a big ‘T’ in the centre. There is also the ISG (integrated starter generator), that we have already seen on the Raider 125 and it offers a silent start-up experience. The speedometer has been off-set to the left on the handlebar and while it is a small round unit, it still packs in the SmartXonnect system, along with voice-assist! Finally, there is USB charging as well.
As far as the Ronin 225’s rivals go, there are a few. You have the Husqvarna Svartpilen250 (Rs 2.11 lakh), the Yezdi Scrambler (Rs 2.07 lakh to Rs 2.13 lakh), the Jawa 42 (Rs 1.69 lakh to Rs 1.91 lakh) and the upcoming Royal Enfield Hunter 350. All prices are ex-showroom.
