Hyundai has finally revealed the prices of the Tucson SUV in India. The range starts at Rs 27.69 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 34.39 lakh (ex-showroom). The new-gen Tucson comes with substantial upgrades. Here's what the car brings to the table in its new iteration.
The new Hyundai Tucson has grown in terms of dimensions. The car is now longer by 150mm (4,630mm) and wider by 15mm (1,865mm). It now sits at 1,665mm, which is 5mm higher than before. However, the notable jump comes in the wheelbase, which has been stretched by 85mm, at 2,755mm. The increased wheelbase and length are likely to translate into more room inside the cabin.
The new-gen Tucson comes with a radically new design, which seems to be more aggressive and sharper. At the front, there is a new Parametric grille, with integrated LED DRLs and LED headlights. The car also gets a new front bumper. Other notable design elements include angular body cladding, blacked-out pillars with a floating roof, and a new LED taillight design with an LED light strip across the tailgate. It sits on a fresh set of alloy wheels, with contrasting coloured roof rails and chrome surrounds on the window.
Inside, the new Hyundai Tucson gets a major upgrade in terms of features as well. In line with the international model, the car in India will also come with a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and BlueLink connected car tech. In addition to all this, the new Hyundai Tucson will also get touch controls for the climate control systems, ambient lighting, an e-parking brake, and a gear switch instead of a conventional gear lever.
The Tucson will also be the first car from Hyundai’s stable to get Level 2 ADAS technology, which includes safety features like forward-collision warning, blind-spot assist, lane-keep assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. Other safety features include six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, ESC, hill-descent control, and all-wheel disc brakes.
In terms of powertrain, the car is available with one petrol and one diesel option. The former is a 2.0-litre unit, which outputs 152bhp and 192Nm of torque through a 6-speed automatic transmission. The diesel option, on the other hand, is a 2.0-litre unit, which outputs 181bhp and 416Nm of torque via an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The car is available in a total of five variants. The Platinum AT petrol is the entry-level version, which is priced at Rs 27.69 lakh. It is followed by the Signature AT petrol, which demands Rs 30.17 lakh. The Platinum AT diesel has a sticker price of Rs 30.19 lakh, and the Signature AT diesel costs Rs 32.87 lakh. Finally, there's the top-spec Signature AT 4WD diesel, which demands Rs 34.39 lakh.
In the domestic market, the Tucson will now take on the likes of the Jeep Compass, Citroen C5 Aircoss, and Volkswagen Tiguan. That said, the Tucson is not only one of the largest among its rivals but also the only one to offer ADAS tech.
