The end of the calendar year brings bad news for people looking out to buy a new car. In December every year, car makers announce a hike in the prices of their products and it comes into effect from the start of the New Year. This year, Isuzu is the first manufacturer to announce a hike in the prices of their products. The official statement shared with us reveals that prices of Isuzu cars will go up by 3-4 percent. The Chennai-based car maker currently has three models on sale – D-Max, D-Max V-Cross and their premium SUV MU-X.
With effect from January 1, the D-Max will be dearer by Rs 15,000 while the flagship MU-X will cost Rs 1 lakh more. As on date, the D-Max V-Cross is priced at Rs 13.31 lakh and the MU-X carries a base sticker price of Rs 23.83 lakh. The top-spec MU-X with the 4x4 option costs Rs 25.80 lakh. All prices ex-showroom Delhi. Prices of the D-Max V-Cross and MU-X had dropped after the new GST rule came to force in July.
The D-Max V-Cross is among the few lifestyle pick-ups available in India and may not be affected hugely by the price hike. The same however cannot be said about the MU-X, especially considering it competes against some very trusted and capable SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour.
