MG Hector Shine Pro, Select Pro Variants Launched in India; Price Starts from Rs 16 Lakh

MG Motor India recently expanded its Hector lineup by adding two new variants. Dubbed Shine Pro and Select Pro, these sit in the middle of the range and can be had with enhancement options. Speaking of the price, the former variant costs Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom), whereas the latter carries a price tag of Rs 17.30 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV hasn't changed in appearance, size, or drivetrain, but the new variants include many new features. Since its arrival on the domestic market in June 2019, the Hector has been the brand's most popular SUV and the major sales driver for the British marque. With the latest rejig, the price of the MG model now starts at an ex-showroom price of Rs 13.99 lakh. Let's quickly have a look at what's new with the Hector.
MG Hector Shine Pro, Select Pro Variants: New Features
The brand-new variants of the Hector come with chrome exterior door handles, LED blade-connected taillamps, floating light turn indicators, and projector headlamps. The Select Pro boasts 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, while the Shine Pro model rides on 17-inch silver alloy wheels and has a single-pane electric sunroof. As you enter the cabin, you can see a brushed metal surface, leather-wrapped steering, and an all-black theme. Among the other amenities are a wireless phone charger, a 14-inch HD portrait infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster. They also receive a segment-first digital Bluetooth key, push-button engine start/stop with a smart key, and key-sharing functionality.

Regarding Safety features, the new variants come equipped with follow-me-home headlamps, cornering front fog lamps, front and rear defoggers, speed-sensing auto door locks, ISOFIX child seat anchors, electronic stability programs (ESP), traction control systems (TCS), hill hold control (HAC), ABS, EBD, brake assist, and cruise control.
MG Hector: Powertrain Options and Market Rivals
When it comes to engine options, the Hector may be outfitted with either a diesel or a petrol engine. The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol mill belts out 250Nm of maximum torque and 141bhp of peak power, whereas the 2.0-litre diesel engine produces 350Nm of peak torque and 168bhp of maximum power. Only turbo-petrol engines come with a CVT transmission, while a six-speed transmission is standard.
The SUV has domestic market competitors in the form of the Tata Harrier, the Mahindra XUV700 (5-seater version), the top-spec Kia Seltos, the Skoda Kushaq, the Volkswagen Taigun, and the Hyundai Creta.
The 'MG Shield' ownership program is available with the Hector Shine Pro and Select Pro models. The customers have a standard 3+3+3 package that includes three labour-free periodic services, three years of roadside assistance, and a three-year warranty with unlimited kilometres.
