The all-electric BMW i5, unveiled last year, served as an inspiration for the sharper design of the latest generation BMW 5 Series. The car sports new adaptive LED headlights, a bold kidney grille, a more angular front bumper with large intakes, and sleek wraparound LED taillights. The sedan also has a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels, which, despite being somewhat smaller than the car overall, have larger tyres to compensate.
New BMW 5 Series LWB: Interior and Features
The interior of the new 5 Series resembles that of the 7 Series model. The long-wheelbase version has more legroom at the back. The additional legroom is matched with a generously padded back seat that lacks the reclining ability found in the E-Class. A larger 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment panel and a 12.3-inch digital instrument console are housed in a curved display on the front. It runs the iDrive 8.5 operating system.
A variety of features can be accessed with just one touch thanks to the Quick Select feature. Furthermore, the dashboard has an optional Interaction Bar. Wireless charging, two rear infotainment screens, an 18-speaker, 655-watt Bowers & Wilkins sound system, front seat ventilation, and more are included as additional amenities.
New BMW 5 Series LWB: Powertrain Options
The new-generation 5 Series is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. A 2.0-litre, four-pot diesel engine might arrive shortly thereafter. A mild-hybrid system may also be offered.
