New Jeep Compass Teased Ahead of Global Debut in 2025
The third-generation Jeep Compass SUV will get a range of powertrain options, including ICE (internal combustion engine), mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric.
Stellantis-owned Jeep has teased the upcoming Compass SUV, which will make its global debut in 2025. The new SUV will be built on the STLA Medium platform that underpins the similarly-sized Peugeot 3008 / 5008 and Opel Grandland, as well as the new Citroen C5 Aircross. The upcoming Jeep Compass will arrive in the third generation, while the Compass available in our market is in its second generation. The second-generation SUV has been on sale in the country since 2017 and, nearly 4 years after its launch in India, the Compass received a comprehensive update including tweaked styling and additional features.
Coming back to the present day, the side profile in the teaser image seemingly shows a pronounced shoulder line, a wraparound greenhouse, a flat bonnet, and squared-off wheel arches. The roof line tapers as it comes towards the rear. Other noticeable bits include blacked-out D-pillars, slim LED headlamps and taillamps, and short overhangs.

New Jeep Compass: Powertrain
The third-generation Jeep Compass SUV is confirmed to offer four-wheel-drive and 'various multi-energy propulsion systems'. Based on the STLA Medium architecture, the model will get a range of powertrain options – ICE (internal combustion engine), mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric, depending on the market. In Europe, the base model could use a 1.2-litre petrol engine with mild-hybrid tech. The electric version could come with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup, just like the Peugeot E-3008 – the first Stellantis model to ride on the STLA Medium platform. The latter claims a range of 700km on a single charge.
New Jeep Compass: What else will it Offer?
Along with the four-wheel-drive tech, the next-generation Compass will also bring in 'affordable capability, top performance, and advanced technology', irrespective of the powertrain option. Jeep's 'most globally available model', the new Compass, will enter production next year at the Melfi plant in Italy, with other locations to be added at a later date. It will be positioned between the Recon and the Wagoneer S in Jeep’s global lineup.
As far as our market goes, the third-generation Compass is unlikely to be introduced here. The current SUV is priced from Rs 18.99 lakh to Rs 32.41 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom). A total of 7 variants of the SUV are offered: Sport, Longitude, Anniversary Edition, Night Eagle, Limited, Black Shark, and Model S.
