Nissan Magnite Facelift Spied Testing with Heavy Camouflage Ahead of India Launch

For the past few months, Nissan has been testing the Magnite facelift in India. The latest sighting of the test mule has revealed several new and interesting details. While the Magnite SUV is the sole product in the company's India lineup for now, Nissan is likely to introduce other models in the latter half of next year. But for now, Nissan's growth trajectory in India significantly depends on the upcoming iteration of the Magnite. The brand also intends to begin building left-hand drive (LHD) models in India, which is also a key aspect of this facelift. This will also increase the production capacity of the company by 25,000 to 30,000 units per year. The carmaker currently exports right-hand drive (RHD) models from its Oragadam facility.

Nissan Magnite Facelift: Exterior and Interior

The Magnite is not expected to receive as many updates as the new iterations of the Mahindra XUV300 and Tata Nexon. According to the spy shot of the heavily camouflaged test mule, most of the improvements seem to be centred around plastic components. The changes include reworked bumpers, a new headlight and grille assembly, revised LED signatures, and fresh alloy wheels. The cabin of the SUV, however, is likely to receive minor modifications. The SUV will feature a few new functions, while the basic dashboard appearance will mostly remain unchanged. 

Nissan Magnite Facelift: Powertrain Options

Mechanically, a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit and a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine will continue to propel the upcoming Magnite facelift. The turbocharged mill produces 100bhp of maximum power and 160Nm (152Nm in CVT) of peak torque. The naturally aspirated engine, on the other hand, delivers 72bhp of peak power and 96Nm of torque. The available transmission options include a five-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

Nissan Magnite Facelift: Rival Models

Although the carmaker has not disclosed the exact launch date, the Magnite facelift will likely go on sale early next year. It is among the most reasonably priced SUVs available in India. The price of the current generation Magnite starts at Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 11.11 lakh (ex-showroom). In terms of market rivalry, the revamped Nissan Magnite will continue to take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Exter, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Punch, Kia Sonet, and Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
