Nissan Magnite vs Hyundai Exter Spec Comparison: What's Different?
Here's how the Nissan Magnite fares against its closest rival, the Hyundai Exter on several factors, including powertrain, price, and dimensions.
Nissan has revamped its compact SUV, the Magnite, to keep up with the competition in India, which includes the Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Exter, Tata Punch, Renault Kiger, and Mahindra XUV 3XO. The model's starting price is Rs 5.99 lakh, which is considerably lower than that of its closest rival, the Exter. Let's compare the two SUVs to find out which is the more suitable option for you.
Nissan Magnite vs Hyundai Exter: Design
The redesigned Nissan SUV features a distinctive front appearance, thanks to the big grille with chrome accents on both ends. The LED headlights and boomerang-shaped DRLs, however, remain the same. Except for the revised LED taillights that incorporate a smokey appearance and a chrome inlay in the centre, the vehicle's rear end remains unchanged. In its new avatar, the Magnite comes equipped with 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

The Exter has an attractive appearance with a black mesh radiator grille, black side panels, an H-shaped LED daytime running light, and projector headlights. It comes with a roof spoiler, a shark-fin antenna, a rear wiper, and diamond-cut alloy wheels.
Nissan Magnite vs Hyundai Exter: Powertrain
The 2024 Magnite continues to be offered with two engine options: a 1.0-litre normally aspirated (NA) petrol with 71bhp and 96Nm and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol with 99bhp and 160Nm. A CVT automatic (turbo-petrol) and a five-speed manual (standard on both engines) are available as transmission options. Moreover, a five-speed automatic transmission is also an option for the NA petrol unit. On the other hand, Hyundai's compact SUV is powered by a 1.2-litre Kappa 4-cylinder petrol engine with 82bhp and 113.8Nm. It comes with a 5-speed manual or AMT transmission. Compared to the Nissan SUV, the Exter's naturally-aspirated petrol mill has a higher capacity and more power. However, the Magnite's turbocharged petrol unit delivers more power than the Exter's engine.
The Hyundai Exter is also available with a CNG drivetrain, which produces 68bhp and 95.2Nm. It also features dual-cylinder CNG technology for ample cargo room.
Nissan Magnite vs Hyundai Exter: Dimensions
In comparison to the Exter, the Magnite measures 179mm long and 48mm wide. It also has a 50mm bigger wheelbase. However, the SUV is 59mm shorter than its Hyundai counterpart.
Dimensions | Nissan Magnite | Hyundai Exter |
Width | 1,758mm | 1,710mm |
Length | 3,994mm | 3,815mm |
Height | 1,572mm | 1,631mm |

Nissan Magnite vs Hyundai Exter: Features
In terms of features, the Magnite includes an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster with improved graphics, a sunroof, a push start/stop button, automatic climate control, and USB Type-C ports. The Exter, on the other hand, is equipped with footwell lighting, metal pedals, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Hyundai's BlueLink-connected car technology, and cruise control. The Exter also gets a sunroof, linked car technology, and wireless phone charging, which gives it a minor edge over the Magnite in this department. However, the Nissan SUV makes up for its shortcomings with features like ambient lighting and bigger alloy wheels.
