Tata Curvv EV Spied Testing in India Once Again, Shows Angular LED Taillights and More

After being spotted twice before, the Curvv EV from the leading homegrown automaker Tata Motors was spotted testing in the country. The car will initially be available as an electric offering before being launched in the domestic market with an internal combustion engine. The Curvv's rear-end design is visible in the most recent spy photos of the vehicle. Upon launch, the ICE version of the SUV may start at Rs 10 lakh, whereas the Curvv EV is anticipated to carry a starting price tag of Rs 20 lakh. All mentioned figures are ex-showroom. In terms of market rivals, the MG ZS EV as well as the Hyundai Kona Electric will compete against the EV, while the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, the Toyota Hyryder, the Hyundai Creta, the Kia Seltos, the Skoda Kushaq, the Volkswagen Taigun, the MG Astor, the Honda Elevate, and the Citroen C3 Aircross will go head-to-head with the petrol-powered Curvv. Tata Curvv EV: New Updates

The Tata Curvv's rear looks to be similar to the concept model that was displayed at this year's Auto Expo. Under the covering, its coupe roofline and somewhat tall tailgate are visible, along with angular LED taillights. The spy photos of the Tata Curvv from before have also indicated the presence of flush-type door knobs, however, they are not very noticeable in these pictures.

Moreover, the earlier spy shots also indicate that the split and vertically stacked headlight configuration featured on the Nexon, Harrier, and Safari facelifts will be available on the Curvv as well. The model will further have a robust front grille similar to the one seen on the Nexon EV, a high-set window line, a sloping rear roofline, slimmer LED taillights joined by a light bar, and fresh alloy wheels. 

Tata Curvv EV: Powertrain Details

While details about the electric drivetrain are still scarce, we do know that it will be built on the carmaker's Gen2 platform. Furthermore, the Curvv EV is expected to arrive before the petrol-powered version of the SUV and will probably offer a claimed range of 400-kilometre to 500-kilometre. Speaking of the petrol version's powertrain, its new 1.2-litre petrol turbocharged engine delivers 123bhp of maximum power and 225Nm of peak torque. The Nexon facelift's 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) may be one of the possible gearbox options, though this has yet to be verified by the maker. Prospective buyers who wish to opt for a more affordable option can also consider purchasing the diesel version.

Tata Curvv EV: Features

Although the production-spec Tata Curvv's interior layout is still under wraps, recent changes to the Nexon, the Harrier, and the Safari suggest that it will also sport the new 2-spoke steering wheel along with an illuminated Tata logo. Other comfort features that might be a part of the model include a 12.3-inch infotainment unit, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, automated air conditioning, and ventilated front seats. In order to ensure passenger safety, It is anticipated to include a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and six airbags. On top of that, the car manufacturer might also equip the Curvv with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking (AEB).
