Kia Sonet Surpasses 3.68 Lakh Unit Sales Milestone in India
Kia India debuted the Sonet facelift a few days back. It includes ADAS capabilities, new tech features, and an updated external appearance. There are seven different variant options for the compact SUV: HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, GTX+, and X-Line.
Kia Motors first introduced the Seltos into the Indian market in September 2020. Shortly after, the company unveiled the Sonet SUV. The latter has had notable sales results since its debut, having secured 50,000 bookings in a mere two months. In just 12 months after its initial release, it achieved the milestone of 1 lakh sales units. In its class, the SUV has also been one of the best-selling vehicles. The South Korean carmaker has now declared that sales of Sonet units in India had topped 3.68 lakh units. Meanwhile, Kia India debuted the Sonet facelift a few days back with ADAS capabilities, new tech features, and an updated external appearance. There are seven different variant options for the compact SUV: HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, GTX+, and X-Line. Furthermore, the 1.5-litre diesel, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, and 1.2-litre petrol engine options will all still be available for the powertrain. Kia Sonet Facelift: Exterior
On the design front, the company has given the Sonet a sharper and sportier appearance by reworking its grille, adopting longer fang-shaped LED DRLs, and a sleek pair of LED fog lamps integrated into the revised front bumper. The only significant difference on the sides is a new alloy wheel design. The new Sonet includes Seltos-style connected LED taillights and a redesigned bumper. The model will still be available in three broad trims: Tech Line, GT Line, and X-Line; the latter will have an external matte finish.
Kia Sonet Facelift: Interior and Safety Features
The updated Sonet sports new black upholstery with brown accents and a redesigned climate control panel, but the interior layout is mostly unchanged from the original model. When it comes to the features, the 2024 Sonet boasts a sunroof, wireless phone charging, built-in air purification, ventilated front seats, two 10.25-inch displays (one for infotainment and the other for the new digital instrument cluster), and more than 70 connected car features. Six airbags—which are now standard—a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), and ten advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features are all included. The "Find My Kia" feature now offers a surround view of the vehicle using a smartphone app, further enhancing the connectivity features.
Kia Sonet Facelift: Powertrain Options
The 2024 Sonet retains its well-known engine range despite its redesigned exterior. While the Smartstream G1.2-litre petrol mill produces 115Nm of torque and 82bhp of maximum power, the Smartstream G1.0-litre T-Gdi petrol engine produces a more powerful 118bhp and 172Nm. For those who would like a diesel engine, the 1.5-litre CRDi VGT unit is perfect, offering 114bhp and 250Nm. To suit a variety of driving preferences, the 1.2-litre petrol is offered with a 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, and a 7-speed DCT; the 1.0-litre turbo petrol has a 5-speed manual; and the 1.5-litre diesel has a 6-speed manual in addition to the current 6-speed iMT and 6-speed AT.

Kia Sonet Facelift: Competition Check and Expected Price
Pricing for the redesigned Kia Sonet may start at Rs 8 lakh and go up to Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). It will continue to face competition from the Nissan Magnite, the Renault Kiger, the Mahindra XUV300, the Hyundai Venue, the Tata Nexon, and the Maruti Brezza.
