Mahindra Scorpio Crosses 9 Lakh Units Production Milestone in India
The Scorpio, Mahindra's flagship SUV, recently clocked a significant sales milestone. The automaker has rolled out 9 lakh units of the renowned SUV at its Chakan plant in Pune. The milestone unit was the Scorpio-N SUV, the most recent incarnation of the model launched in June last year.

After making its debut in India in 2002, Scorpio underwent a number of modifications and upgrades. Mahindra now offers the legendary car in India in the Scorpio-N and the Scorpio Classic guises. For those who don't know, the SUV is the brand's best-selling product. Thanks to the recent addition of the Scorpio-N and the ever-growing sales of the popular Scorpio Classic, Mahindra sold 9,318 units of both versions last month. Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO of Mahindra and Mahindra took to social media to announce this landmark achievement saying, "Today was special-the first anniversary of the Scorpio N. We were in Chakan Plant to celebrate it with the team. It was an emotional moment to flag Scorpio N off the line."

Mahindra Scorpio-N: Features
There are several features included with the Mahindra Scorpio-N. On the top variants, you can get features like keyless entry, wireless charging, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12-speaker 3D Sony sound system, and connected car features. You can also get dual-zone climate control, analogue dials with a big coloured MID, front and rear cameras, auto start-stop, cruise control, Type-C USB ports for the first and second rows, and auto start-stop. What3Word, which lets you specify your location with only three words and is compatible with Alexa, is another option. Other safety features include a driver drowsiness detection system, ESP, traction control system, hill-hold control, hill-descent control, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and six airbags.
Mahindra Scorpio-N: Powertrain Details and Driving Modes
Two engines are offered for the Mahindra Scorpio-N: a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel. The oil burner has two tuning options. The turbo-petrol engine has a maximum output of 203bhp and a peak torque of 370Nm (MT)/380Nm (AT). The diesel engine develops 175bhp at 370Nm (MT)/400Nm (AT) and 132bhp at 300Nm. In addition to the RWD system that is standard, the SUV offers three additional driving modes: Zip, Zap, and Zoom. Only 4WD drivetrain systems are offered with higher-end diesel versions. There is a 6-speed manual gearbox available for both engines. A 6-speed automatic gearbox is also included with the top-tier diesel and turbo-petrol variants.
Mahindra Scorpio-N: Design and Dimensions
To lend the car a more premium appearance the overall design skillfully combines each component. The front of the car has C-shaped LED daytime running lamps, a six-slat grille, LED fog lights, and twin-pod projector headlights. On the dimension front, the Mahindra Scorpio-N SUV is 4,662mm long, 1,917mm wide, and 1,857mm tall, with a 2,750mm wheelbase. The height becomes 1,849mm when the smaller 17-inch wheels are used.

Mahindra Scorpio-N: Competition Check
The Mahindra Scorpio-N remains the most affordable 7-seater mid-size SUV this year even after multiple price hikes. In the Indian market, it competes with the Tata Safari, the MG Hector Plus, the Hyundai Alcazar, and its stablemate, the Mahindra XUV700.
