autoX Awards 2024: Is it a scooter? Nope. Is it a motorcycle? No, sir. So, then, what is it? Well, it’s a CE 02, and BMW calls it eParkourer, which, to us, seems like a made-up term for a product that’s neither here nor there.
That said, it’s radically unique and looks freaking cool. And, boy, does it make a statement! The CE 02 is an electric two-wheeler, and it’s here to challenge the status quo. It’s not for the masses, obviously; it’s aimed at hip, cool, and well-heeled folks – we must add – who want to commute short distances on what’s essentially a two-wheeler equivalent of a fashion accessory. The fact that it wears a BMW badge and has green credentials adds to its appeal. With its boxy, minimalistic, and bare-bones design, accentuated by stylish elements like a sleek TFT display, and multiple hues on the bodywork, it’s a crowd puller for sure. It has a bucketload of X-factor, period.
Zipping around town comes naturally to the CE 02, thanks to its lightweight construction and peppy electric drivetrain. It features two air-cooled lithium batteries, which deliver a total energy of 3.9kWh. The batteries are paired with a synchronous motor, which is rated at 15bhp and develops 55Nm of torque. The performance, as a result, is quite electric even on the racetrack! The CE 02 is one speedy skateboard.

What we love about its performance is the throttle calibration and regen. Unlike other vehicles the CE 02’s throttle feels more natural and has linearity in its operation. As for its ride and handling, it offers a tremendous balance. Despite featuring a heavy battery pack, it’s surprisingly agile. Plus, those massive 14-inch wheels and a long wheelbase give it impressive stability. The suspension is firm, no doubt, but it feels surprisingly compliant over bad roads.
At ₹4.5 lakh (ex-showroom), the CE 02 might be relatively affordable compared to other BMWs of its ilk, but it’s still a niche offering. Sure, it’s a potent product, but ultimately, it’s just a cool toy or a fashion accessory for the rich. Not to forget, given our roads and extreme weather conditions, it’s unlikely for even the well-heeled to go out and commute on a two-wheeler, regardless of how fun or convenient it is.
